VETERANS DAY, NOVEMBER 11, 2006

The designated Color and Honor Guard of the KWVA,  participated in ceremonies on Veterans Day. National President Lou Dechert, the KWVA member of the Veterans Day National Committee was also a participant. Earlier in the day Member Edwin Buckman, Chapter 270) and his wife attended the annual White House Breakfast as the KWVA invitee and guest for 2006.

Wreaths were placed at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Arlington National Cemetery, and at the Korean War Veterans Memorial on the Mall in Washington.

A National wreath was placed at the Korean War Veterans Memorial on the Mall following the Arlington ceremonies.

Chapter 299 was invited to provide the 2006 National Honor and Color Guard for the Veterans Day activities. Chapter 142 has been invited to be the 2007 National Honor and Color Guard for the National Ceremonies on Veterans Day.

National President Lou Dechert (Chapter 180), National Director Jeff Brodeur (299), Member Robert Grandfield (299) (pictured), and Members Al Holden (Commander, 299), Larry Swope (299), and Art Griffith (299) placed the wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, escorted and commanded by Member Raymond Glock (33) who is also a member of the VFW National Honor Guard which annually conducts the overall Honor and Color Guard for the Arlington Veterans Day Ceremonies.

Two members of the 1st Battalion Combat Team, 506 Infantry Regiment (Light), 2d Infantry Division, Korea, Hershey Miyamura, MOH, and CSM Joe Annelo, and National Director Jeff Brodeur (299) and Chapter 299 Commander AL Holden are pictured at the ceremony. The 1/506 was deployed from Korea to OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM in 2005.
